The Bible is The Inerrant Word From God

The Bible is The Inerrant Word From God

The idea for Christian Bible Study Guides began several years ago.  I have been a Student of the Bible most of my adult life.  During my late teens and twenties, I found rebellion to be more to my liking than attending church regularly.  My family was very disciplined to attend church whenever the doors opened.  But, for me, during my early adult years I experienced life from many anti-family perspectives, places, as well as in opposition to my Lord and Savior.  A deviation I now deeply regret.

However, it was this rebellious period in my life that brought me short lived pleasure and a eventually led to a challenge from me to God. During this time, I questioned whether or not the Bible was and remains the Inerrant Word of God.  For me this was especially true for the Christian Bible in English.

A debate about authenticity or accuracy started soon after England's King James authorized the Bishop, Rasmussen and 45 other committee members to translate the Bishop's Bible (Roman Catholic) into English in about 1604 A.D. That controversy continues with us today. (We will return to the historical details of the creation of the KJB at a later date.  It was the third translation of Scripture in English.)

However, regardless of the debate and whether they are anything more than interesting speculation and assumptions should be left up to the individual to ferret out with "knee time with God (better known as prayer time)."  2 Corinthians 3:12-16, confirms that God has fulfilled His promises from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and will remove the veil from our heart and share with us His true meaning of scripture.  From that revelation alone we should be comfortable in our faith that the Bible (in English or in any other language) is the inerrant word of God.  God directed those who wrote the words given to them (I Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21). God has also protected the word at each successive translation since (yes, even those I dislike).

My Brother in Christ, John MacArthur, was the speaker at the Master's College on this very subject. Brother MacArthur's research is thorough and complete. There are 5 videos produced from these lectures and can be viewed at the following link:  CLICK HERE

Bible Study Topics materials are frequently searched for and used in home or church bible studies. We know now that every Christian has an equal opportunity to be taught by God through His Holy Spirit.  Too often we attempt to pass that off to someone who has a credential (ordination), or is perceived to know more.  For me this is very disheartening.  I believe each person should engage in their salvation (a guarantee that is coming for all who have saving faith) with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12-13).  Which does not include giving someone other than yourself the final decision about whether or not you are living saving faith.

When you reach that plane of understanding about your personal value to God and His promise to instruct you, then you may go forward without requiring persuasion from any other person and rely only on the Holy Spirit.  When you ask, believing you will receive, God through the Holy Spirit will inform you of God's intention and meaning.  There may be a period of doubt, but truth will win out when you have Saving Faith.

  3. Almost all Christian doctrines are based on the New Testament of the Bible. But, how do Christians know that these 27 books are the inerrant, inspired words of God, as Christians tell us?

Answer: A bunch of fallible, scientifically illiterate Churchmen in the second, third, and fourth centuries said so! That's it!

When and where did God say that a bunch of old Churchmen have the authority to determine what is and what is not his Word? When and where did God say that Saul/Paul of Tarsus was speaking on his behalf? Or the writers of the Gospels? Or James? Or Peter? Or any other writer of the New Testament? Even if the apostles themselves had voted unanimously for the 27 books of the current New Testament to be designated as the "Word of God", that still would not prove that God had authorized them to do so. We have no evidence that the Eleven achieved a state of perfection and omniscience on Pentecost. They, like every other human being, were fallible. So where is the evidence that God left a list of what should and what should not be considered his Word in a new testament?

    Answer: No where!

We have no evidence from the Bible or anywhere else that God gave Christians a list of what is and what is not his Word! Christians have created an "inerrant, inspired, you-are-damned-to-Hell-if-you-don't-believe-it" Holy Book based solely on the opinions of men living almost 2,000 years ago.

Bombshell: Christians have zero evidence that proves the New Testament of the Bible to be the Word of God; the inerrant message of the Creator of the Universe to mankind. Zero!

    1. If you are truly interested in answers to your inquiry, I suggest the following reading with their list of citations:
The Case For Christ, by Lee Stroble
A Rabbi Looks AT Jesus of Nazareth, by Jonathan Bernis

    2. God didn't explain it well enough in HIS book, so I need to read books written by a couple of fallible humans to explain what an infallible and all-knowing God was trying to say?

      Sounds like spin to me.

    3. When you are serious enough to take a look at the recommended books, the truth of the matter will be more than obvious. What you do with the new found information (history and Archaeology primarily) will be the most interesting part of your journey. God bless you in your effort to sort the truth from fiction, R

    4. Christians are never satisfied with the number of books that skeptics must read in other to "see the obvious". What you are really wanting is that I read enough books to be convinced in the reality of the supernatural. But the supernatural, by definition, cannot be tested. In order to believe in supernatural events one MUST make a leap of faith.

I am no more willing to take that leap to believe in your reanimated/resurrected first century Jewish preacher than I am to take a leap of faith to believe in the reality of leprechauns and fairies.

If you want to believe in reanimations/resurrections, water-walking, and ghost-impregnated virgin births by faith, go right ahead. But please stop trying to prove the reality of these supernatural events with "evidence".

      There is no evidence.

There is no evidence for the reanimation of Jesus. Zero. No one claims to have watched the body come back to life. No one claims to have watched this body exit his sealed tomb. The only evidence you have is for post-death sightings. And tens of thousands of human beings, throughout history, have claimed to see dead people.

It is a supernatural tale and nothing more.

    5. Thanks Gary,
The books I recommended, especially Lee Strobel's Case for Christ, bring the evidence from the recorded past. There is evidence of more than 500 who witnessed Jesus after resurrection and a few hundred who witnessed His ascension back into heaven.

Lee Strobel was an avowed atheist. He began his research to prove to his wife that what you have written is indeed true. His work is worthy of your time and investigation.

Regardless, I pray for you and that God would continue to provide you opportunities to discover His existence, power, and especially His love for you. God bless you, R

    6. Just because someone told Paul that five hundred people saw the resurrected Jesus at the same time and place, how do you know this claim was true?

If someone told you that five hundred people had seen a little green Martian with antennaes on his head, would you believe this person, even if this person was someone who is very reliable? I highly doubt it.

You wouldn't believe the story about five hundred people having seen a little green Martian unless you could personally interview the five hundred people yourself, and I would be that even then, you would be suspicious of their collective story.

      Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence!

We would never believe a claim about five hundred people seeing a Martian based on a second hand report, so why should we believe a second hand report from two thousand years ago about a dead body exiting its sealed tomb to later fly off into outer space??

It is just nonsensical, my friend.

You have no good evidence for your supernatural claims, let alone, extraordinary evidence.
